NSD – Substitute Numbering Agency for the CIS: News and Events29.03.10 NDC Holds Seminar for Kazakhstan's Central Securities Depository"The National Depository Center" (Closed Joint Stock Company) (NDC), Russia's only settlement depository servicing the full range of debt and equity securities of Russian issuers, reports that on 12 March it has held a seminar for representatives of Joint Stock Company Central Securities Depository, the Republic of Kazakhstan (KACD). In the course of the seminar NDC demonstrated functioning of its software developed for assignment of ISIN and CFI codes to financial instruments and for formation of daily reports for delivery of the information to the international database of the Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA). In addition NDC informed KACD on main goals and functions of the national numbering agency. NDC regularly holds such seminars upon the requests of central depositories of the CIS which are the members of the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD). NDC accomplishes one of the tasks of the substitute numbering agency for the CIS: it contributes to formation of national numbering agencies in these countries. It is worth pointing out that since 2007 NDC is the substitute numbering agency for the CIS in accordance with unanimous decision of ANNA's annual general meeting held 31 May - 1 June, 2007 in Vienna. The decision was made based on an official request sent by AECSD to ANNA's Board of Directors. NDC is one of four organizations in the world having right to act as a substitute numbering agency for other countries which do not have own national numbering agencies or where national numbering agencies do not have enough resources for implementation of all necessary functions. Three other organizations are Standard & Poor´s - CUSIP Service Bureau (USA), Telekurs Financial Ltd. (Switzerland), Wertpapier-Mitteilungen (Germany). NDC is Russia's national numbering agency, and the substitute numbering agency for the CIS, authorized to assign the international ISIN and CFI codes.
