General Principles of ISIN Allocation

ISINs are allocated to financial instruments in accordance with the principles set out in the international standard ISO 6166 and regulations of the Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA).

An ISIN consists of 12 significant characters:

a prefix which is the alpha-2 country code specified in ISO 3166 (for Russia – RU);
the basic number, which is nine characters (letters and/or digits) in length;
a check digit computed using the modulus 10 “Double-Add-Double” formula: the final character of the ISIN (computed in accordance with ISO 6166).

An ISIN is a unique code intended to uniquely identify an issuer's financial instruments having common characteristics.
